Natasha Lehrer Lewis moved with her family from the Chicago suburbs to an eight-acre farm in Big Rock after they felt unexpectedly drawn to rural life. Today, she runs Big Rock Organics and Esther’s Place, a fiber arts studio offering classes, supplies, and a farmstand, blending agriculture with her passion for fiber arts.

Balancing the demands of farming and the emotional toll of PTSD, Robert explains how therapy and mindful exercises have helped him rediscover joy and purpose in life. Meet Tim Scarbrough, who has spent his life in service to others. After a 21-year military career, Tim worked with veterans suffering hardships for the Illinois Department of Employment Security. At the same time, he saw an opportunity to serve his community through farming. Scarbrough Farms has corn, soybeans, sheep, goats, honeybees and blueberries on a 17-acre farm in West Frankfort, Illinois, with plans to build two greenhouses and a hydroponics building to specialize in locally grown produce year-round and seasonal U-pick opportunities.
